There’s a reason why the 2nd of January is World’s Introvert Day. Amidst the celebration, each year is a moment of reflection—and why not spend the earlier parts of the year planning it?

Being intentional means you’re not taking chances with luck this year—because luck is that friend who can decide to show up or leave you stranded on your worst day.

So, cheers to taking control of your year. For that, we’re going to need to set new year goals.

But it’s not always as easy as it sounds. The previous year may have been great in many ways, but everyone needs some help pointing out areas that can be better in 2025.

Thankfully, I have a new year goals template for 2025 that’s going to be a lifesaver. If you’re introspective and need to reflect on how to make your new year goals much more achievable and realistic, take a look at the following ideas.

25 Intentional New Year Goals to Make 2025 Rock

  1. Take care of your peace by setting boundaries.

Don’t be that guy or girl who doesn’t prioritize themselves this year. I’ve been there, and I’m turning a new leaf. It’s okay to say no without over-explaining. This is one of the best new year goals you’ll be thankful you made by the end of the year. Care about everyone else, but not at the expense of your happiness.

2. Make time for something you love every day.

It could be painting, writing, or gardening; just do it and let yourself enjoy it. Even though it looks small, your body and mind will thank you. Plus, this is one of the new year goals ideas that’ll leave you energized for the day. I mean, what better dopamine release do you need?

3. Start journaling—it’s like a brain dump for clarity.

Just a few lines a day can work wonders. Instead of mindlessly scrolling on the internet, journaling is a beautiful way to document your thoughts. Think about the time when social media didn’t exist. People still had fun, right? You’ll most likely experience this with journaling. You can start by writing one of Albert Einstein’s quotes for your New Year's goals in your journal– “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”

4. Pick a book each month that sparks your curiosity.

Bonus points if it’s a book you’ve been meaning to read forever! If you’re the quiet type, reading books should definitely be among your ideas for new year goals. It keeps people guessing why you’re quiet. ;) Nonetheless, reading is a must for everyone. In the world of viral videos, you can up your level of concentration by diving into a good ol’ book.

5. Learn something new just because it excites you.

It could be anything, like knitting, coding, or trying a new recipe. Because why not? There’s nothing better than being more knowledgeable than you were last year. And no, scrolling through TikTok won't necessarily cut it as learning something new. Take an online course, or learn a new skill through platforms like Creative Live. For me, I’ll be learning coding. :)

6. Plan little hangouts with the people you adore.

Life’s too short to miss out on meaningful connections. If you’re an introvert, it’s okay to take this step slowly. One-on-one coffee dates are the best, aren’t they? You can go with a friend, cousin, sibling, or anyone you enjoy having deep conversations with. Try to make it in person for a change, because sometimes, a chat online just won’t cut it.

7. Send a thoughtful text to someone each week.

In the world of never-ending status updates, a simple “thinking of you” goes a long way. This is how to set New Year goals because no one sends meaningful texts anymore. That’s why it should be one of your new year goals for 2025. If you see a distant friend’s post, don’t hesitate to reach out and tell them how special they are. You just might make someone’s day.

8. Join a group or class that feels like your vibe.

Online groups are now a thing, which is why it should be a new year resolution to join one. It’s a fun way to meet people while doing something you love. There are spaces for literally anything, so it won’t be difficult to find your people.

9. Host a chill get-together, your way.

Movie night, board games, or just tea and chatting—it’s all good. And if you’re the quiet type, you can do it all online, and at home without the burden of planning an actual get-together. Make it your new year's resolution to make memories with people you love, and in a way that’s most comfortable for you.

10. Find a cause you care about and volunteer.

What a resolution for the new year like philanthropism. Even an hour a month can feel so fulfilling. Many people need help out there and contributing makes the world a better place. Plus, you might meet some of the kindest people in the world when you volunteer.

11. Take a short walk every day to clear your head.

Here’s a little secret: I’m taking the Fitness app on my phone seriously this year. It’s my 2025 resolution because I’m such a homebody. I’m aiming at 1000 steps every day for a start, and from my research, this is great for my cardiovascular health and will increase my energy levels. Bonus: you get some fresh air and light exercise, too, which is great for your mind.

12. Try a simple morning or night routine.

It’s all about starting or ending the day with ease. If you have an out-of-control schedule—like most people ;)—make your New Year's resolutions fun by waking up earlier than you usually do, planning your day, reading something inspiring, or even journaling. For nighttime, you can limit screen time after a particular hour, develop a nighttime prayer schedule, prep your clothes for the next day, or even listen to some calming music. The list is endless.

13. Give meditation or deep breathing a shot.

There are many ways to unplug after a busy day, and deep breathing is one of them. Trust me, even five minutes can make a difference. Close your eyes, sit in a comfortable spot, and relax your senses. Now take in a deep breath in a count of four, and release in a count of six. Repeat the activity until you feel a peaceful sensation in your muscles. I tried this and I felt more energized for my day.

14. Experiment with cooking at home.

Cooking at home is a great New Year’s goal. Why? Because it’s a healthier option. Second, the art of creating something from scratch leaves you feeling accomplished, especially if you’re new to the process. And lastly, it saves money unlike dining out every time. So just start with something easy and build from there.

15. Work on getting better sleep.

Good sleep equals better health and a healthier you is a happier you in 2025. A little tech-free wind-down time can also help. Plus, a balanced schedule throughout the day is important. If you tend to pass out every night due to exhaustion, this is your sign to make changes this year.

16. Create a budget that feels right for you.

2025 is your year of getting your finances right. (and that goes for me too ;D). It’s all about spending on what really matters—and you can’t do that without budgeting. I used to be so bad at budgeting until I got a budget tracker that works perfectly for me and the rest is history. Use this new year's goals quote by Michael Altshuler as your mantra: “The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.”

17. Save up for something that makes your heart happy.

Still on the topic of getting our finances right in 2025, stop wishing and start planning toward that thing you enjoy. It could be a trip, a class, or a treat; just go for it! At the end of the year, you’ll be happy you made the decision.

18. Clear out things you don’t need and sell them.

Decluttering feels amazing, and you might make some extra cash. If you didn’t know, there are tons of people looking for that exact item that’s gathering dust in your home. I’ve become a fan of Facebook marketplace recently, and it amazes me how my inbox gets full when I post an item for sale.

19. Try a no-spend week or month.

I keep telling myself that the world won’t end if I don’t get that bar of chocolate when I visit the supermarket. And it doesn’t! Not splurging on your cravings for a period of time can be a fun challenge to reset your habits. If you notice something eating deep into your pocket, give it a break for a week or two.

20. Put money into something that’ll grow.

Someone asked me, “What’s your goal for 2025?” My answer was simple: make more money. But I’m doing it a little differently this year. Instead of making big changes and abandoning the income streams I have, I’m investing in them. Think upskilling with a course, or even a investing in small business idea. If there’s already some seed in the soil, add some water instead of planting afresh.

21. Tidy up one little corner of your space each month.

Picking a space to work on in your home each month helps you look forward to new changes. For me, I’m starting with the corner where I write my blog posts. I’ve ordered some of the cutest stickers with motivational quotes and updated my desk to something more ergonomic. It won't just up my productivity, but it’ll also leave me refreshed.

22. Take breaks from social media when you need to.

Give yourself some mental breathing room. I mean it – social media can leave you feeling more demotivated and fatigued than you realize. Normalize the old-fashioned way of having fun. Try people-watching, phone calls with a friend, or simply getting lost in a good book. Your mind will thank you for it.

23. Celebrate your wins—big, small, or tiny.

My goal this year is to be more mindful. Instead of never-ending wishful thinking (which social media tends to cause), it’s much better to appreciate what I have now. Gratitude journaling helps. I’m going to create a card and write on a Post-it note one thing I’m grateful for each week and put it in the jar. By the end of 2025, I’m going to have an awesome time reading them. And yes, even the tiny wins count.

24. Make a “stop doing” list.

We all have that thing we want to stop doing. Mine is procrastination (there I said it :0). Once I pointed it out, I was able to create a routine to overcome it, including revamping my work station as I mentioned earlier. This year is all about letting go of the things that drain our energy and don’t serve us anymore. But it’ll start with a stop-doing list.

25. Create a vision board for the year.

Dream big and have fun with it—it’s your future, after all. You can either create a virtual vision board or a physical one. I tried virtual last year, but I’m getting my hands dirty this time. I’ve started preparing all my cutouts on Canva and I’m printing them at a local print shop. With the help of some paper glue, my 2025 New Year’s journal is going to be magical.
